iPad 3 CPU, the A5X
iPad 3 processor is the upgraded A5, not the A6 as previously thought.
A leaked picture from the Chinese factory manufacturing the new CPU shows a logic board for Apple's next-generation iPad shows a system-on-a-chip labelled A5X rather than the "A6" processor that has long been talked about.
The name A5X could implies the next iPad 3 motherboard CPU processor is a more powerful version of the existing A5 chip found in the iPad 2 and iPhone 4S, rather than an overhauled next-generation "A6" processor.
Another photograph from a purported iPad 3 parts plant shows what appears to be a production line for the new retina display for the tablet.
The specifications already in the public domain appears to show the iPad 3 as not too different from its predecessor.
