THE POWER OF MODERN REAL-TIME TECHNOLOGY

The most amazing thing in the recent US election was not only the diversity of the candidates, but the blatant use of modern technology. Indeed it might be argued use/ non-use of technology played the most crucial part in the see-saw of the opinion polls, first in the primaries and later in the election proper.

It cannot be disputed that younger people are usually more tech savvy than seniors, and when the game is played in the cyber world, well the younger peoples’ choice has a serious head start. Of course the candidate must have ideas that excite this genre of potential voters, but to be able to reach them in real time, make them feel as if you are talking directly to them is a truly awesome experience, and probably another vote bagged.

It’s indisputable that President Obama used this technology more frequently and in a more suave manner than any other candidate. And he was elected president. He was speaking directly to us in our living rooms through YouTube, beseeching us to be part of the change America wanted, and needed. He looked us straight in the eye when he said that- in real time. How could we doubt him?

His supporters were everywhere: on facebook, twitter… and who could know whether it was President Obama writing directly to our mailboxes or a volunteer supporter? In the end it didn’t matter. What mattered was that he was delivering messages to ‘me only’ in my inbox, and through YouTube.

The power of modern technology and mode of communication has surely entered a new era. The era of online campaigns, online tutoring, online legal debates, online medical practice…and the companies coming up with newer user friendly and easier to use tools- even for the novice computer user are increasing every month. previously unknown multimedia companies like Faculte's Broadcasting Studio among others are establishing a powerful presence in the real-time multimedia conferencing field.

Only a few months ago, it was reported that a European doctor based in Congo, and faced with a patient needing urgent surgery of which the doctor was not familiar with, used mobile phone [of all instruments] to communicate with an Europe based doctor expert in the field. They exchanged required technique via cell phone, and voila1 the operation was a  success.

At no time in history have we seen such rapid life changing technological advancement as we are seeing now. And things can only become better, and sometimes more confusing for those not in the ‘loop’ of these modern wizardly. the modern tech gadgets come in various forms. i just found one such  intro technique and like it.
